Rockers making kids’ music

By March 19, 2012No Comments

You know you’re a Kindermusik parent if you can’t take a shower without singing, “bubbles on your nose” or “wishy washy, wishy washy, wishy washy WEEEEE!” It just goes to show that music is the great equalizer and there’s a song in us all!

Apparently, celebrity rockers feel the same way about joining in the song and dance fun with their new babies. It’s a win-win for us as parents; cute music and fun to see familiar rock icons get in touch with their parenting side. Here are a few highlights:

Lisa Loeb, the bespeckled songstress from the 90s is a mom of two now and has been making adorable music for kids that moms and dads will not only tolerate, but love!

Dad of six,  Ziggy Marly, son of reggae great Bob Marley’s kid’s album, “Family Time” has a fun family-time message. Catchy, no?

Rockers are popping up on Yo Gabba Gabba all the time. Here indie rock superstars The Shins remind us to try again!

And, I must mention another favorite: the Rockabye Baby Albums. I was rocking my six month old niece today and smiling as I sang along to the vibraphone/lullaby rendition of Men at Work’s, “Who Can it Be Now?”

Thank goodness artists are crankin’ out great tunes for the littlest music lovers in our lives! Gone are the days of the purple dinosaur! Now we can rock alongside the kids!

Do you have other favorites to add?

This post brought to you by Jenny Leggett who is a sucker for a good looking band singing to the babies!
