What can families expect from Miss Jennifer’s class?
People will experience a genuine, warm welcome in my class. Beyond a ‘music’ class, children and adults alike have the opportunity to gain a friend. Whether it be another mom in the class or me as the teacher, we are all there to grow in love, laughter, and learning with our children.
Why Miss Jennifer loves the Kindermusik way!
The developmental benefits that I saw quickly in my own child sold me on Kindermusik! My child was growing in ways that other children outside of Kindermusik were not growing. He was excelling in ways other children his age were not.
My first experience was in a college classroom at the University I attended, observing a Kindermusik class. I watched older children learn about music in ways I didn’t know existed. In younger children, I saw music reaching the heart of the child and transcending the fundamentals. Smiles were abounding and children LOVED this class.
After becoming an educator, I realized how powerful the Kindermusik experience was in each life. For parents and children, it was exceeding joy. I learned that each class would be a different experience for me and that I would never stop growing and learning as an educator.
What amazes Miss Jennifer about class time?
I’m not as amazed at the children’s lights coming on anymore because I’ve grown to expect that result in Kindermusik. I look for it to happen with each child each semester. Music and movement is a gateway to learning and the more its done, the more the ‘lights’ are turned on.
What are some of the common, yet extraordinary things that happen in class that make Miss Jennifer want to teach again and again?
Seeing babies light up at the hello song on week four or five after they have become accustomed to that ritual in class. Listening to our two-year-olds find their singing voice and start singing along with the hello song is always fun. Gathering the most creative ideas from our preschoolers about what they found at the ‘park’ that day or skipping hello together because it’s a new skill for them. There are so many but those are a few.
Miss Jennifer and SoundSteps
I feel valued by the SoundSteps family of educators and feel well taken care of as an employee. I enjoy sharing my experiences and mistakes [with my co-educators] because I, too, am learning new things every semester!
