Growing Great Readers–FlashCard-Free
September 23, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm
Childcare provided for a small fee!
Development of literacy begins at birth. Children, even babies, are beginning to learn the basics of reading every time you open a book. There are many things caregivers can be doing (or doing more of) at home that will help their children grow to be great readers.
Children who are read to most everyday through the early childhood years develop a love of books. Children who love books are motivated to learn to read themselves. The more they read, the better they get. The best readers are the best overall students.
I will share with you simple, fun games, songs and activities that will encourage early reading. It’s a “flash card free” approach to reading development. I’ll also share some of my favorite books for the early childhood years. In addition as a speech language pathologist I can share with you some basic speech and language milestones and answer questions you may have about speech and language development.
